Standard number clues

Each round uses 40 hidden mines, keeping density consistent from start to finish.

Score by timer

Top-right timer is your score; faster clears mean better runs.

How to Play Minesweeper

Core rules for this Scratch Minesweeper build.

1

1) Clear all safe tiles

You win by revealing every non-mine tile. Any mine click ends the run.

2

2) Read the numbers

Each number counts adjacent mines (8 surrounding tiles). Use them to decide which tiles are safe.

3

3) Flag with Space

Hover a covered tile and press Space to toggle a flag when you are sure a mine is there.

4

4) Restart quickly

If you hit a mine, click the stop button then the green flag to generate a fresh board.

Tips & Patterns for Faster Clears

Practical, non-spoiler tips that come straight from classic Minesweeper play.

Use edge patterns

Common shapes like 1-2-1 or 1-1 along edges often force exact mine placements.

Pair flags with numbers

Only flag when adjacent numbers demand it; avoid guessing early.

Open obvious zeros

Empty tiles fan out safe openings—use them to expose large areas quickly.

When logic stalls

Count remaining mines versus unopened tiles in each region to pick the safer guess.
